About Us
After a lifetime of owning various breeds of dogs, we became interested in trying our hand at show dogs. Our interest in Great Danes started after watching "Breed all about it" on the Animal Planet. The show did a great job portraying Great Danes as a loving, gentle comedic breed! After a year of researching the breed we found Ohana Danes in Winchester Virginia.
Stacey Stern-Leaphart spent countless hours corresponding with us. Eventually Stacy called us with the good news. Her girl "Tori" was bred to "Maximus". Tori's puppies were due in March 2006. We were promised a Harlequin girl. On March 22 Tori had seven puppies, 6 boys and one beautiful show marked girl. We chose the name Lilo from the movie "Lilo and Stitch". The movie made several references to the word Ohana which is Hawaiian for family. Lilo's AKC registered name is "Ohana's Exotic Spirit".
As the saying goes " You can't just have one"! We decided to add a Blue female to our family. We met Leigh Dewitt of "Dewitt's Court Great Danes". She told us of an upcoming litter between "Cagney" and "Daphne". The litter was born on October, 30 2006. We chose a gorgeous girl "Lacey". Her AKC registered name is "Dewitt's Court American Retro Blue".
We are currently looking for a male mantle or harlequin to add to our kennel. Lilo and Lacey are doing well in the show ring. We plan on breeding Lilo in the later half of 2008. Again, our goal is not to produce multiple liters. Rather, we want to pass on the wonderful traits of our girls. We have been blessed to have them and plan to keep up the excellent tradition of responsible breeding that we have been exposed to through or mentors.
